International Academic Affairs Task Group

International programmes and exchanges @ AUD

Since 2009 AUD faculty members and administrators have met with researchers, educators, education administrators, representatives of foundations and government officials to advance international (bilateral and multilateral) initiatives consistent with AUD’s mission. To further its educational and social objectives in an international dimension, AUD has established an International Academic Affairs Task Group (IAATG) to coordinate interactions between AUD, universities and institutes outside of India, and the foundations and agencies of India and other countries that serve to facilitate cooperation in education and research.

The IAATG was formally constituted in January 2012 and presently includes the following members:

  • Prof. Shyam B. Menon (Vice-Chancellor), Chair
  • Prof. Denys P. Leighton (Schools of Liberal Studies and Undergraduate Studies), Convenor
  • Prof. Vijaya S. Varma (Advisor, Planning)
  • Prof. Kuriakose Mamkoottam (Director, SBPPSE)
  • Dr. Preeti Mann (Assistant Professor, SHE)
  • Dr. Rohit Negi (Assistant Professor, SHE)
  • Ms. Manasi Thapliyal (Assistant Professor, SES)

Here are some forms of cooperation in higher education and research with which IAATG is getting involved for the benefit of the AUD community:

  • Receiving and sending faculty members and staff internationally for the purposes of teaching and research.
  • Facilitating exchange of faculty members and other experts for research, teaching and discussions.
  • Arranging exchange of students at all levels of higher education for formal study, research and internships, so that AUD students and international students may receive academic credit or other recognition for their study/research/work outside their home institutions.
  • Designing and implementing joint-degree and dual-degree programmes.
  • Conducting teaching and research programmes in areas that will be determined by the faculty and staff from time to time.
  • Arranging and hosting joint conferences and seminars from time to time.
  • Building up library resources and databases, conducting documentation projects and promoting other such activities through international collaboration.
  • Pursuing other activities in fields of education, research and communication that AUD and international institutions may mutually agree upon.
